A general note about shipping:  as we all are aware, fuel prices have risen dramatically in the past two years.  One of the most immediately-hit sectors of the business world has been the shipping industry.  Shipping is more expensive now than it used to be - this is a fact of our current economy that has nothing to do with us, our suppliers, or our craftspeople.  We do not mark up or make money on shipping costs - what you pay is what we are charged.  We try very hard to find the proper balance between cost and care and safety in handling.  It makes no sense to pay for cheap shipping if the item is lost or arrives damaged or broken.  If you are paying thousands of dollars for custom furniture, it only makes sense to insure that it arrives safely and intact.  If this costs a few hundred dollars, it is worth it in the long run.  If you are concerned about the shipping cost of an item or items, we will be more than happy to get an estimate for you ahead of time.
